Rolling Road Golf Club

The clubhouse at Rolling Road Golf Club was provided with a new roof system enhanced in both appearance and performance. The steep slope areas were adorned with a thick, premium asphalt shingle designed to look like slate tile, while the low slope portion was covered with new TPO, gray in color to better hide dirt and blend in with the adjacent shingles.

Roland Park

The Spanish tile roof had suffered damage to the snow rail and the tile needed to be removed, salvaged and reinstalled to the mfg’s specifications. We evaluated the existing conditions, redesigned the snow rail and relayed the tile, on battens, to meet the mfg’s specifications, all while the school was occupied with elementary and middle school aged children.

Under Armour

The Ravens were expanding their offices in the “Castle” at Owings Mills. The roofing work consisted of new Ecostar slate and Firestone TPO. Careful coordination was required to maintain the existing building in a weathertight condition, since the addition tied in to the existing building and selective demolition of the existing building envelope was require to make the tie ins. We were able to maintain the weathertight integrity of the existing structure with temporary means and carefully detailed intricate tie ins to the existing stone and EIFS walls. The work also included a hot rubberized roof on new terraces with pavers.

Maryland School for the Blind

New construction of residences and classrooms containing of two types of roofs: a steep slope Ecostar slate roof and a low slope TPO roof. The schedule for roofing was winter and the materials were temperature sensitive. With a spring completion date, the roofing work could not be delayed. We constructed hot boxes and carefully coordinated access to our work with the mason who was also on the same schedule and could not be delayed, only all his work was underneath us. Our daily schedule was adjusted for the weather each day. On the milder, sunnier days, we would work on the north slopes and on the cooler days we would work on the southern slopes.

Project Profile:

Peddy Residence

Originally built in 1831, this home had an aged copper roof that had sustained hail damage and required replacement. In order to provide the owners with a new roof that remained aesthetically historic, a copper panel was installed which had been “pre-aged” under controlled conditions without chemical assistance. The material was more difficult to work with than plain copper and required meticulous handling, but in the end the beautiful finished product and homeowners’ satisfaction were well worth the additional effort.
